AN EU Referendum Debate organised by Sustainable Crediton in co-operation with Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE) was held at the school’s Western Road Site on Monday, June 6.
About 65 people attended the lively debate which was chaired by QE Principal, Rupert Poole.
Students from the sixth form at the school organised soft drinks and tea and coffee to raise funds for their China trip.
The aim of the debate was to help people make informed decisions about whether to vote In or Out at the EU Referendum on Thursday, June 23.
The four members of the panel were Mary Quicke - farming, Sam Robbins - economics, David Jaques - local business and Mike Birkin - environment.
Three of the panel, Mary, Sam and Mike spoke of the benefits of staying in the EU and David Jaques spoke about the benefits of leaving the EU.
Members of the audience were then given the opportunity to put across their own point of view. For details see report in next week’s issue of the Courier.
