THE Government has said that flooding is possible this morning, Thursday, March 9 in the Crediton and Mid Devon areas.

It says that during the last 24 hours there has been heavy rain and snowfall in the Mid Devon area.

It adds that this has meant that the River Taw is now rising.

Flooding to low lying land and roads close to local rivers around Crediton, Newton St Cyres and Upton Hellions from around 9.30am today is possible.

It is expected that river levels will remain high throughout the day although no flooding to properties is forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued.

It says: “Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions.

“We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages in this location.

“This message will be updated on Thursday evening or earlier if the situation changes.”

The flood alert area is the Rivers Creedy, Creedy Yeo, Little Dart, North Tawton, some parts of Dartmoor, Lapford Yeo and their tributaries.
