9.30am - Crediton Parish Church informal morning service, Boniface Centre, all welcome.

4pm - Installation of the new Bishop of Crediton, Service at Exeter Cathedral.

WEDNESDAY 9

1pm to 5pm - Spreyton Summer Fair, display of vintage vehicles, stalls, Spreyton Village Hall.

2pm to 5pm - St Peter’s Church Fete, Brampford Speke, barbecue, tea and cakes, bar, arts and crafts, parachute a teddy, tug of war, plants and flowers, second hand toys, tombola, stalls, raising money to mend the church clock.

3pm - Winkleigh Fair begins, well dressing, church service, Crowning Fair King and Queen, Crediton Town Band, Murder Mystery Trail, Cream Tea Stall, bring a picnic and drinks, followed by a week of events.

WEDESDAY 16

9.30am to 3.30pm - Crediton Library Local History Day, enjoy a range of talks and information stands relating to local history and heritage, 9.30am – Dr Bridget Gillard (Devonshire Association): ‘Sisters doing it for themselves’, Mother Teresa and the founding of the Posbury St Francis Community; 10.45am – Irene Andrews (Volunteer): Devon and Cornwall Police Museum, A talk about the Museum operated by Devon and Cornwall Police, the history of local policing, and with some artefacts to examine; 1pm – Graham Ley (Author): Researching and writing a Devon Historical Saga, Graham discusses the types of research he undertook whilst writing locally-based fiction; 2.15pm – Brian Carpenter (South West Heritage Trust): Fire, theft, dung and disorderly houses, Brian will discuss Crediton in the 18th Century, as we know it from the records of the Devon Quarter Sessions Courts which are held at the Records Office.
