DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is holding an Open Day at its Headquarters in Clyst St George, near Exeter, on Sunday, September 6, from 10am to 4pm.
The event is free, open to everyone and promises to be a day of family-friendly fun, live demonstrations, and an inside look at the life and work of the fire and rescue service.
Visitors can enjoy emergency demonstrations, food and refreshments, live entertainment, and guided tours of fire appliances.
The day is also a valuable opportunity to learn more about fire safety and prevention. Attendees will be able to speak with firefighters and prevention officers, discovering practical ways to stay safe at home, on the road, and in the great outdoors.
There will be a range of stalls and many hundred people normally attend.
Andy Smith, Assistant Chief Fire Officer at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Our SHQ Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come along, meet some of the people who work for the Service, and see first-hand the wide range of things we do to help keep Devon and Somerset safe.
“There will be a number of demonstrations and activities to learning more about fire prevention, road safety and how we respond to incidents. We will be joined by some of our partner organisations, there will be live music, and a range of food and activity stalls to enjoy.
“There is something for all the family. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors of all ages for what promises to be a great day.”
The event will also raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports serving and retired members of the UK fire services and their families.
