THE White Room Creative Space in Crediton will be opening its doors again this year for Devon Open Studios when 14 artists and makers will be showcasing their work.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 5pm every day between Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 21.
Bindy who set up and runs The White Room Creative Space says: “We have a fantastic line up this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors.
“This is our fifth year of taking part, and the gallery space, rooms, as well as the hub seating area will be filled with a wide and varied display of work, including painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, paper mache, ceramics, tapestry, textiles, silver jewellery, wood and basketry.
“All those who are taking part are Devon based and members of Devon Artist Network and include those exhibiting and selling their work across Devon, the Southwest, the UK and internationally.
“This year’s artists are Anne Jackson, Belinda Reynell, Esme Cooper, Hannah Oram, Jane Welsh, Joanne Roper, Owen Williams, Rosie Brewer, Sarah Holder, Simon Ripley and Steve Symes.

“The original list included painter Louise Hutton, who has a studio at The White Room Creative Space.
“She was chosen by Devon Artist Network as one of eight up and coming artists and invited to show her work at Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton during Devon Open Studios. Obviously, we are very pleased for her, but we will miss her and her artwork here in Crediton.
“Last year more than 950 people visited us during the fortnight of Devon Open Studios.
“This included locals as well as visitors from outside Devon, some coming just to have a look and enjoy the artwork, maybe going away with a few cards or a small print or piece of pottery, others coming on a mission to find a wonderful piece of artwork, a giant canvas or piece of ceramic art.

“I hope that the variety of work again this year will mean that there is something for everyone and for all budgets.
“Last year it was wonderful to see more children and young people visiting. Many said they just love art and making, quite a few were studying art and design or learning specific craft skills, and some were just starting out on a career in the arts. We hope that even more may visit this year.
“As well as presenting a varied and well curated exhibition, we promise a warm welcome for everyone. We hope that people will pop in even if not intending to buy.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists and makers.
“Having a group exhibition certainly draws visitors in, but we also encourage people to look up other participating artists and studios nearby and to make a day of it enjoying the art and crafts as well as everything else that the town of Crediton has to offer.”
The White Room Creative Space is at 50 Commonmarsh Lane on Lords Meadow Industrial Estate. It has level access, is wheelchair and pushchair friendly with an accessible toilet, a seating area with refreshments on offer, some parking and roadside parking.
