HAVE you ever wanted to sing Karl Jenkins’ wonderful work “The Armed Man?” Or have you sung it before (maybe with the Crediton Festival Chorus in 2013) and loved it?
In either case, or even if you would just like to give it a go, you are warmly invited to take part in a choral workshop day under the direction of Tina Guthrie on Saturday, November 8 in Crediton Parish Church.
The day will begin in the Boniface Centre (next to the church), where doors will be open from 9.15am for registration and score collection, and the first rehearsal session will start at 10am.
After this the remaining rehearsal sessions move into the Church, culminating in an informal performance at 4pm, ending at 5pm.
Tina Guthrie, said: “It would be wonderful to have a good audience for the 4pm performance.
“Admission will be free, with donations to the Crediton Parish Church Music Endowment Fund invited, and all are welcome.
“The performance will be accompanied by piano and organ as well as solo flute, cello and percussion.”
To take part in the day you will need to book a place in advance via Ticketsource at:
The participant fee is £15, plus £2 if you need to hire a score (the “Complete Vocal Score”) and all proceeds will go to the Crediton Parish Church Music Endowment Fund.
Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day in refreshment breaks, but you are asked to take your own packed lunch (the lunch break will be 1.10pm to 2pm).
Tina added: “Jenkins called this work ‘a Mass for Peace’, and it is profoundly moving and thought-provoking. It is also particularly special to sing it the day before Remembrance Sunday.”
