LIONEL Ritchie, Elton John, Madonna, Prince, and ABBA are just some of the iconic names of musicians from the 1980’s.

Here was a decade of Music that rocked the world and had everyone “Dancin’ In The Street!”

It was the time where many tuned in to the weekly Top of the Pops show on BBC1 for a “Thriller” of a show to see whether their favourite song or songs had reached the top 20 or even the coveted No 1 spot.

Have you noticed the three songs cleverly hidden in the paragraph above. If you have then you will be pleased to read that many similar ones are being performed by CODS in their annual September concerts.

“Sounds of the 80’s” is being performed in the Boniface Centre on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, starting at 7pm for 7.30pm.

There is no other society in the whole of Devon who take on a similar evening during which, as well as being entertained by some excellent chorus singing, audiences are served a two course meal.

The food often follows the theme of the evening and therefore this years offering is Lasagne and garlic bread followed by either Black Forest Gateau or Lemon Meringue Pie.

The atmosphere created is just like The Talk of the Town where music and food are combined.

Tickets cost £22 and can be ordered direct from Yvonne Youles either via email: [email protected], by calling 07395 416063 or through the CODS online Box Office which is: www.codsonline.com.

The September concerts allow CODS to show off the incredibly high standard of choral singing it produces, a four-piece band headed by Allan Fouracre.

There will also be some additional solo/duet/trio performances from our talented members as well as a guest performance from our Crediton Youth Theatre Academy members, who will remember nothing of the 80's!
