POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an ambulance was in collision with an elderly woman on a zebra crossing in Exeter.

The incident happened around 3pm on Friday, November 22, on the A377 in Cowley Bridge Road.

The ambulance was responding to an emergency call when it was in collision with the 88-year Exeter woman on the crossing.

She sustained serious injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital. She remains in a stable condition.

Officers from the Exeter Roads Policing Unit are investigating the circumstances of the collision and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
