CHULMLEIGH College is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of Devon Music Education Hub’s new Lead Schools for Music.
This prestigious recognition supports the Department for Education’s National Plan for Music Education and highlights the College’s ongoing commitment to delivering excellence in music education.
To receive this award, schools must demonstrate the highest standards of music provision, both in the classroom and through an extensive programme of extracurricular activities. Chulmleigh College is delighted that its music education provision has been recognised in this way.
“Music is a very important part of life at Chulmleigh,” said Mr Miners, (Music Lead). “This award not only recognises the quality of our curriculum and enrichment opportunities, but also celebrates the dedication, talent and high standards of all our school musicians.”
Currently, more than 100 pupils at Chulmleigh College take part in weekly instrumental and vocal lessons.
Many other pupils, including those not currently learning an instrument, continue to demonstrate outstanding musical ability in their class lessons and school performances.
As a designated Lead School for Music, Chulmleigh College looks forward to further developing its music offer and sharing best practice with other schools across the region.
Mr Neil Payne, Executive Deputy Headteacher commented: “The Arts continue to play a very important role in the educational offer at Chulmleigh College.
“Committed to a model of traditional and rigorous education we continue to place music at the heart of what we do and see the benefits it has for our children. We look forward to working with more children in more schools as part of this designation.”
Chulmleigh College is a highly popular fully inclusive state secondary school for pupils aged 11-16. Situated in a beautiful rural location, it prides itself on traditional values and high academic expectations for all pupils.
