SANDFORD Congregational Church held an Easter Sunday afternoon service which was led by Pamela Tilney Ellis with organist Margaret Dockings from Morchard Bishop.

Everyone agreed it was lovely to hear the church organ. A special prayer was said for Anna, who is an orphan in the Haven of Hope Orphanage in Romania.

During the service, posies were fixed on the cross, which now stands outside the church on the railings.

After the service, delicious refreshments were served. Marion Nosworthy said that, their collection at their last Sunday service of £50, which was led by Matthew Jackson, was donated to the Haven of Hope Orphanage, which Matthew visits and supports.

Mrs Nosworthy announced that the next lunch will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 30 and the next Sunday afternoon service on May 5, will be led by John Gooding.
