CROWDS of people went to a Christmas Fayre held in Down St Mary Village Hall, organised by Down St Mary branch of the Women’s Institute and the Village Hall committee.

The event included stalls offering Christmas gifts, cakes, jewellery, mosaics, knits, scarves, wooden planter and bird boxes, local honey, a Lucky Dip bran barrel, Guess the Weight of the Cake competition, Hamper draw and Name the Teddy.

Teas, coffee, mince pies and sausage rolls were enjoyed.

The MP for Central Devon, Mel Stride, was a welcomed guest at the event, stopping to talk to the organisers, helpers and many of those who went along.

Father Christmas arrived to the great delight of the children and from his grotto talked to each one and gave them a gift.

Profits from Christmas Fayre will be divided between the hall and WI funds.
