PEOPLE4PONIES has launched an emergency appeal to raise funds to buy land for their Witheridge-based sanctuary after their current site has been sold by its elderly owners.

Faye Stacey, Head of People4ponies explains: “We’d been given two years to plan our move but unexpectedly a buyer purchased the whole property before it was on the open market, so we now have to leave by April leaving little time to raise the money we need and to find a new home.”

People4ponies has been dedicated to providing help and rehabilitation for wild and traumatised ponies for 17 years. It provides a much-needed sanctuary and specialist care for ponies too traumatised to be re-homed and for those with special health needs. It has elderly residents too with the oldest pony now 38 years old.

Faye said: “Our aim is to purchase an area of land so that we can have the security of having our own facility – this means a target of £85,000 but People4ponies is also keen to hear from anyone who might have land available for us to use or purchase, particularly in the mid Devon area but also further afield.”

Donations from supporters have currently reached £6,200 and an urgent Crowdfunder appeal has been launched to help raise vital funds:

Canadian-based musician Michel Goguen has signed up to help - anyone who makes a donation to the People4ponies Land Appeal in January will receive a copy of Michel’s new song a month before its official release (see the People4ponies Facebook post for a preview of the track or visit: https://www.facebook.com/People4ponies/videos/496003157711880/ ).
