MORE than £340,000 has been raised in just two-and-a-half years as businesses across Devon unite for Hospiscare with a series of competitive go-kart races.

Devon's business community is continuing to demonstrate the power of collaboration through the hugely successful Devon Business League and Construction Cup.

The fundraising indoor go-kart races are led by Raceworld and Hospiscare, supported by NFU Mutual Exeter, Tiverton and South Molton Agency.

Since its launch, the Devon Business League has evolved into an official partnership between Raceworld and Hospiscare and is now an established fundraising and community engagement event for the charity.

Bringing together businesses from across Devon, the initiative creates opportunities to network, collaborate and compete, while raising vital funds to support the specialist care that Hospiscare provides to local families.

John Doyle, Director at Raceworld, and Ellie Melmoth, Partners Manager at Hospiscare, have driven the initiative with the support of competitors from across the business community.

They said their vision was simple: to engage the local business community, encourage collaboration, and raise as much money as possible for Hospiscare. What followed exceeded all expectations.

One of the standout moments came at the end of the very first year when the team was presented with a cheque for £101,000.

With more rounds of racing still to be completed this year, followed by the finals in October and the prestigious awards ceremony at Sandy Park, fundraising figures have already exceeded £70,000 for 2026.

As preparations continue for the remaining rounds and October finals, John and Ellie are encouraging more businesses to get involved.
