A DELIGHTFUL calendar of Devon photos is now on sale from various outlets in aid of the Exeter-based cancer charity, FORCE.

All the photographs of lovely scenes from across the county were taken by Karen Burrows from Lapford, who sadly passed away in June this year.

The 2022 calendar has been produced in loving memory of Karen.

The family issued a message which reads: “Many of you may have purchased the calendar that Karen did to raise money for FORCE in 2020.

“If you did you will be aware of her battle with ovarian cancer.

“Karen was diagnosed in December 2019 and battled bravely, even when the cancer spread to her lungs and liver. She was a true fighter.

“In April 2021 Karen had a seizure and the family were told she would not survive the night and to prepare for the worst, but again she fought so hard to live.

“Sadly however, Karen lost her battle on June 2, 2021 at the age of 52, when the cancer spread to her brain.

“Her family is devastated, she will leave a huge hole open in our hearts.

“Her last weeks were spent in Yeo Ward in the Exeter RD and E, where the nurses worked so hard to make her time in there as comfortable as they could, not only for Karen, but for all her family.

“We are forever grateful for Yeo ward and all the staff on the ward.

“Taking up the mantle for her Mum, Jessica, Karen’s daughter, has decided to do another calendar for 2022.

“Using photographs from her Mum’s collection, the calendar will once again be used to raise money for FORCE, who empowered and supported Karen and her family throughout her illness and treatment.

“Enjoy Karen’s perspective on the West Country that she loved to live in and photograph.”

The family has signed the message: Love Karen, John, Jessica, Gavin, Sandra and Grandson Noah x

Colourful countryside and coastal scenes form the calendar and the back of the calendar includes an image of Karen when she was hard at work photographing ponies on Dartmoor at Windy Post Cross, which was taken by her good friend and photographer Cyril Chudley of Crediton.

Karen was a member of Kirton Photography Club and appreciated the help and support Cyril had given her.

A former chef, Karen had also worked at Exeter Prison. She did karate in her younger days and played rugby for Exeter Ladies. She also played rugby for Devon and said she had loved her rugby days. She lived at Lapford for more than 25 years.

The calendar was printed by Hedgerow Print of Crediton and it is kindly sponsored by Mucky Mutts of Devon and KSL Kazlum Support Ltd. The family thank Joanne of Mucky Mutts and Neville and Rachel from KSL.

The calendar can be purchased, for a minimum payment of £7, by contacting 01363 83985.

Please ask when calling about postage or local delivery.

Sales of the previous calendar raised £1,800 for FORCE.

CONCERT

To also raise funds for FORCE, the family has organised a concert.

It will be held in the Victory Hall at Lapford from 7pm on Saturday, December 18.

It will include music and acts, including live music from "Southern Roads" and all are invited to attend. There will be a bar and buffet.

Tickets at £10 each are available from John Burrows on 01363 83985.
