I AM, of course, delighted that the loading bay problem in the High Street appears to have been solved, but this should have happened ages ago. About four years ago, I contacted, via Mel Stride, the Minister then responsible (Lib Dem Norman Baker). I was formally told that NOTHING could be done without primary legislation. I cogitated for a couple of weeks, then emailed back, only to get the same reply. Now I read that the current Minister "conceded that loading bays can be painted a different colour, with further signage if necessary". I know that we have a coalition Government, but you would think they could use the same hymn sheet on something as simple as this. As a voter, I do not take kindly to being "fobbed off" in this way by Ministers of the Crown or their underlings, but I am probably wasting my time waiting for an apology or an explanation.
