THE Cullompton Neighbourhood Plan has become the first to be approved in Mid Devon following its referendum held on May 6.

The referendum results recorded 87.3 per cent of votes in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan.

Voters were asked the question: “Do you want Mid Devon District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Cullompton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

The Cullompton Neighbourhood Plan now forms part of the statutory development plan for the Cullompton area, alongside the Mid Devon Local Plan and the Devon Waste and Minerals Plans.

It carries full weight for guiding planning applications submitted to the Council for determination and the decisions made on these. The plan will formally be adopted at a meeting of the Council on June 30.

The Cullompton Neighbourhood Plan is published on the Council’s website here: https://www.middevon.gov.uk/media/352473/i-cullompton-neighbourhood-plan-referendum-version.pdf .
