THOSE who supported the recent St Lawrence Chapel Patronal Weekend celebrations at St Lawrence Chapel in Crediton are being thanked for their generosity.

Church member Sandra Collier explained: “It was a beautifully sunny afternoon on the Saturday, West Gallery Quire providing a background of fitting music.

“Delicious teas were served and there was bric-a-brac, books, cakes and homemade produce on sale.

“A wonderful sum of £347.71 was raised.

“The lucky squares draw of a hamper for local produce was won by Mr Ken Battishill of Exeter.”

She added: “On the Sunday evening 27 people attended the Patronal Evensong.

“Organ music was provided by Cliff and again the West Gallery Quire were in attendance giving us a rendition of some verses from Psalm 119, the ‘Magnificat’ and ‘Nunc Dimittus’.  Rev Lewis Eden was the preacher.”

The next Evening Prayer service at St Lawrence will be held on Sunday, September 11.
