CODS, Crediton Operatic and Dramatic Society held its Annual General Meeting on June 25, during which members reflected on a busy and successful year.

As part of the evening, the group presented a cheque for £673.63 to Age Concern Crediton, raised through donations and collections across CODS most recent shows, including “Beauty and the Beast”, “The Men Who Marched Away”, “Christmas Carols” and the “Walk in the West End” concert.

The cheque was gratefully received by John Musty, who spoke briefly about the vital support and services the charity offers to older people in the area.

The AGM also marked the appointment of Holly Harris as the new Chair of CODS, taking over from Mike Canning, who was warmly thanks for his contribution and leadership.

Looking ahead, CODS is now focused on an exciting line-up of productions over the coming months.

“Sounds of the 80s”, the Society’s September concert, promises a lively celebration of iconic 1980s music.

Under the musical direction of Mike Canning, rehearsals are well under way, featuring choral numbers, solos, duets, and a trio – plus a special appearance by members of the newly formed CODS Youth Theatre Academy.

Performances will take place at the Boniface Centre on Friday, September 19 and Saturday 20 (7.30pm).

Tickets (£22) include a two-course meal. To book, please email Yvonne Youles with your preferred night, number of tickets, and food choices (including any dietary requirements).

This December, CODS will bring festive cheer with “Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood”, a family-friendly panto directed by Lyndsey Betts, with performances from December 20 to 22 at the Old Town Hall.

Looking ahead to 2026, preparations are already in motion for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, set to run at QE Lower School, from April 13 to 18.
