Crediton Saints 6

SAINTS' got their season underway with an excellent all-round team performance and a victory that took them to the top of the table.

After a bright start by both teams in a match played on an excellent playing surface, Exmouth took the lead with a fine individual goal from Sam Warren.

Within three minutes Kieran Vinnicombe brought Saints level with a fantastic 35 yard dipping volley.

A James Eginton corner was then lashed home by Kieran Vinnicombe from eight yards after 21 minutes to give Saints the lead.

With Dan Tucker and Jeremy Tucker both proving formidable in Saints defence, ably assisted by Alex Rodd, Jamie Mackenzie and Martin Hodge, Saints hold on the game grew as the half progressed.

James Eginton completed the first half scoring with a fine drive from 25 yards to make it 3-1 to Saints at the break.

Josh Hill fired in an angled shot having been put through after 51 minutes as Saints increased their lead.

Cory Eaton then saw his thunderous drive strike the underside of the bar following another Saints corner, just as the home side had done on two occasions in the first half!

With Saints strikers Matt High and Toby Parker having worked hard without reward, it was then the turn of subs Ben Sharpe and Joe Pincombe to show what they could do up front.

Ben Sharpe's angled shot was superbly saved by the home 'keeper, only for Joe Pincombe to net the rebound with his first touch in competitive football for Saints!

Minutes later a fine cross from Joe Pincombe was netted from close range by Ben Sharpe as the two strikers proved their worth.

Sam Warren then netted a fine late consolation for the home side as the match came to a close.

A special mention for Saints 'keeper Thomas Langmead who performed well throughout the match on his competitive debut for the side.
