THE Festival Co-Ordinator at Crediton Parish Church, Stella Stephens, says that the church’s Virtual Flower Festival was a success and raised £1,500 for the church.

Stella commented: “A massive thank you to all who supported the Virtual Flower Festival and especially the ‘Crediton Courier’ for printing all the winning pictures.

“We hope that you enjoyed the competition. We have received some lovely feedback.

“We are delighted to announce that we have raised £1,500 which will go towards the maintenance of Crediton Parish Church.

“It is amazing in these difficult times that people have been so generous.”

She continued: “Our under 12 winners, Effiah and Zinnia, were presented with their prizes outside and socially distanced and were very pleased to receive their certificates too, as well as meeting our very own celebrity Bishop Furry!

“The over 12s presentation will take place at next year’s Flower Festival ‘Devon Created’: we look forward to seeing you there.”

Under normal circumstances Crediton Parish Church raises approximately £15,000 from its annual Flower Festival and Christmas Tree Festival.

The festivals normally raise valuable funds towards the upkeep of Holy Cross church.

CHRISTMAS

Stella added: “At present we are planning a Christmas Tree Festival.

“We will keep you posted as much as possible. We have already started the preparations and the Christmas Trees are going to be ‘socially distanced’.”

This means there will be a reduction in the number of trees from the usual 76 to 63 trees.

Businesses, clubs and groups which normally decorate a tree are advised that if they haven’t booked their tree for decoration, can they please get in touch with Stella Stephens by email at: [email protected] .

The Christmas Tree Festival committee will be meeting again at the end of September to ensure a safe festival, taking on board all the Government Guidelines.

The date to put in your diary for the Christmas Tree Festival is Wednesday, December 2 to Sunday, December 6.

The “Devon Created” Flower Festival will take place from Saturday, June 5 to Thursday, June 10, 2021.
