THE worship area of Crediton Methodist Church has been stripped out, double bank “birdcage” scaffolding erected, walls are being knocked down and windows prepared for eco glazing - all part of the major refurbishment programme.

Downstairs a suite of new toilets are being installed, to be twinned with...and the foyer given a welcoming new lease of life.

The upheavel outside the front door is the most striking in terms of disruption and is causing a stir with passing townsfolk.

Christine Marshall, Project Manager, told the “Courier”: “It’s amazing how such a small digger can create such devastation! The whole frontage area is going to be re-jigged to create a much-needed ramp for ease of entrance to the main Church, for anyone who is challenged by steps.

“As a Church Council, we have tried to accommodate this facility for many years and finally achieved plans that work during this Phase Two of the refurbishment plan.

“We shall be so pleased to welcome everyone when it is completed. In the meantime, we are looking at a great big hole and a huge pile of earth, rubble and jack hammered concrete.

“All I can say is ‘watch this space’ - the Methodist Church is getting ready to welcome any Community projects or ideas for our newly-appointed building in the future, just contact me by telephone 01363 772012.”
