CREDITON Library’s physical building may be closed but library staff are working from home to continue library services online and provide support for our local community.

Our regular Crafty Tales restarts next Monday, April 20, at 11am on Facebook Live and alternates with Bounce and Rhyme on the following Monday, April 27, at 11am.

We will be publishing a quiz on social media at 5pm on Thursday, April 23, for World Book Night. This is not a literary quiz but amongst the topics there will be some book questions.

We are planning an online CoderDojo on May 1, Crediton Literary Festival on Saturday, June 6 and Crediton Library Local History Day on Wednesday, July 1.

Devon genealogist Janet Few is running a five-part weekly series of one-hour online Zoom “Introduction to Family History” courses free of charge to library customers on Wednesdays at 2.30pm starting on May 6.

If you are one of our Book Trackers or you are aged six-to-15 years-old and would like to join the 100-book challenge please email us a short review of the book you are reading using your parent/carer’s email address. We will save your stickers and badges until we re-open.

If you have any library items on loan they will have been automatically renewed. We have eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines that you can access for free using your library card. We have free online reference resources and there is temporarily extended access to Library Ancestry Edition for use from home.

Please do email us if you would like any help with accessing resources at: [email protected] .

If you don’t have a library card then you can join for free online to access these resources. Everything can be found on the Devon Libraries website at: https://www.devonlibraries.org.uk/web/arena .

It is a difficult and stressful time for many people and the team at Crediton Library are pleased we can play our part in bringing books and library resources to our local community. It means a lot to connect with our customers via online platforms and to offer free events. It is great to be in touch with everyone and helping where we can. Many thanks to everyone for your photos and comments on social media, we are enjoying seeing all of your messages.
