NEW books and some very old ones were among the several tables of books for sale when Crediton Area History and Museum Society held a coffee morning in the museum, raising about £150.

This is on the ground floor of the Old Town Hall on the corner of Searle Street and the High Street and where people can check their ancestors, find information, check old maps or manuscripts, plus a small shop that sells local history publications and old postcards of local scenes.

The museum is run by volunteers. There is a regular newsletter produced for members and Friends, copies available in the museum, plus a list of future dates, also listed on the museum’s website ( creditonhistory.org.uk ).

Available now at the museum is its quiz sheet. Copies are £1 for funds, all the questions have a Devon or farming focus. Closing date is April 30.
