A CREDITON gig venue now offers improved wheelchair access for audience members thanks to The Turning Tides Project and funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Buccaneer’s Bar in East Street, Crediton, has taken delivery of a new set of wheelchair ramps - all test fitted and organised by The Turning Tides Project, a community interest company which promotes equal access to music, the arts and life for people with learning disability or autism labels.
The ramps are put in place on request and are easy to install.
The Heritage Lottery Fund is funding a project called Turning Tides @ The Palace. This project consists of workshops, collecting peoples stories on “The Palace” or “The Regal” and will end next year with a movie and interactive exhibition night at The Buccaneers. This exhibition will then tour in Crediton and it’s surrounding villages.
If you have any stories, photographs or memorabilia from the old cinema or are interested in being a part of this project then contact Abi using the email address below.
The next workshops are “An Introduction to searching archives and databases” from 2pm to 4pm at The Devon Heritage Centre on October 2 and “The Palace and its heritage”, at Buccaneer’s Bar from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on October 30.
