JENNY Dallow from Braunton was the demonstrator at Crediton Flower Club’s November meeting.

She began her long career in floristry and horticulture with a Diploma course at the Constance Spry School in London and is an area demonstrator.

Jenny describes herself as a “true arranger” and arrangements portraying design principles of texture and colour were most important to her.

The intriguing title for the demonstration was “Glass is Class”.

Using glass containers throughout the demonstration, Jenny began with a “cold and frosty morning”. Her interpretation was brilliant with the use of white stocks, white roses, chincherinchees and gyp arranged in a container filled with dried leaves, lichen and moss. Very effective.

An all pink arrangement next with lisianthus, carnations and spray carnations displayed in a conical shaped container filled with pink/mauve voile.

This was followed by Jenny creating two completely different arrangement styles using the same flowers for each arrangement.

A large champagne glass featured in the first design with the second display being a more traditional triangular arrangement in an ice bucket.

For her finale Jenny chose to create a Christmas display with red roses, gerberas, carnations and ivy displayed in a large vase filled with red and green baubles.

A most entertaining and informative evening. June Harry gave a vote of thanks.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, December 8 at the Boniface Centre at 7.15pm and will be the club’s Christmas party. Visitors are welcome.
