THE next Music Makers’ concert, the 12th in the series, will take place on Tuesday, April 26, from 7.30pm at Crediton Congregational Church.
Chamber music will feature strongly, including historic works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Gabriel Faure – played by three different local and Devon-based ensembles. The programme is introduced by The Music Makers’ musical director Rebecca Willson.
One of the groups playing will be a talented youth ensemble, JUTP, led by Fiona McLean, drawing on some of the best young classical musicians in the Devon area.
The Schumann quintet will be played by Roger Stephenson (piano) with Helena Torpy and Francisca van Holthoon (violins), James Cookson (viola) and Amye Farrell (cello). “The Late Night Trio and Guests” comprise Janna Bulmer (soprano) Sharon Hubbocks and Mary McLaren (violins), Adrian Janssen (viola), Greg Forster (cello), Maureen Adams (double bass), Trevor Wiggins, piano.
A new innovation – a “3rd half” devoted to an extended performance by a single group – focuses on folk-singer/harpist Anna Tanvir, with John Richards and Steve Turner (accordion) with the Mellow D Choir, which Anna leads.
This is a welcome return for the group, whose performance for charity at the Congregational Church early last month was a packed event, raising more than £1,000 in donations.
Doors are open, as usual, at 6.45pm, with wine and refreshments available. Admission will be £7. For further details, please visit: www.themusicmakers.org.uk .
