CREDITON Community Bookshop hosted a sell-out event with Robin Ravilious on Thursday, November 30, who gave a fascinating illustrated talk on the life and photographs of her late husband, James.

Using a handpicked selection of James’ photographs which depict rural scenes from country life in Devon in the 1970’s and 80’s, a record he made for the Beaford Archives, Robin invited the audience "behind the scenes" to find out more about the people, places and circumstances that gave rise to these iconic images.

The talk was followed by a lively question and answer session, after which Robin signed copies of her recently published biography "James Ravilious - A Life" as well as an enchanting new collection of James’ photographs "The Recent Past".

Both books are available at Crediton Community Bookshop alongside a wide variety of James Ravilious cards.
