CREDITON Citizens Advice is now able to open for a second day each week, thanks to generous financial support.

Previously the Citizens Advice was only open on Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm at the Council Offices in Market Street, Crediton.

Now it is also able to open on Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm.

The charity says: "Whatever your situation, whoever you are, we are here to help, providing free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to people on their rights and responsibilities in relation to Benefits, Housing, Debt, Employment and many other areas of concern."

Vicki Rowe, chief executive, said: "I am delighted that Kelly Trust, Crediton United Charities (Relief in Need) and Crediton

Hamlets Parish Council have stepped in and offered financial support to allow us to help more people in Crediton, with extra opening times, a town where there is an increased demand for our services.”

A spokesperson on behalf of the three charities/organisations said: "Citizens Advice (CA) is a worthwhile and extremely beneficial organisation whose help, support and guidance has been made available to residents of Crediton and the surrounding local area for a number of years.

"Due to Mid Devon District Council funding cuts, their services on offer have been severely reduced.

"However, we are pleased to confirm that Kelly Trust, Crediton United Charities (Relief in Need) and Crediton Hamlets Parish Council are supporting the good work on offer, by enabling the CA Office in Crediton to open its doors for a second day each week.

"We all wish the CA Crediton Team every success for the future".

Last year across the organisation, Citizens Advice Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon, 155 volunteers gave up 989 hours each week, helping 11,092 people with 24,189 problems.
