READERS of the “Crediton Courier” will recall that last year, Helena Paish from Crediton Parish Church Choir won the BBC Radio Two Young Chorister of the Year award.

This is no mean achievement considering that entries are submitted in a very demanding format (by CD) from choirs of all types (including Cathedrals) from across the nation.

This year the four female finalists will include not one, but two of Crediton Parish Church choristers who have attended a training course at Eton and had further intensive work locally.

The girls in question, Isobel Tiffin-Donnavert and Emma Richards, will attend the live final contest at St. Martin in the Fields Church on Monday, October 12, and the programme will be broadcast on BBC Radio Two on Thursday, October 15 at 10pm.

Crediton Parish Church choir sings in many concerts and services and the choir (and the two young finalists) will be singing in Crediton’s twin town, Dokkum at the end of this month.
