BANG Bang Boxing held its first Boxing Show at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre in Crediton on Saturday, May 2.

More than 150 people went along to watch many of the club’s young boxers step into the ring to compete in bouts or give demonstrations of boxing skills against competitors from other clubs across the South West.
Bang Bang Boxing Club, in Mill Street, Crediton, is dedicated to providing top-notch boxing training for amateurs, boxercise enthusiasts and fitness lovers of all ages and abilities.

The event featured about 12 bouts of Olympic style boxing and former WBC champion Glenn Catley was MC.
Highest professional standards were maintained, the matches in a ring erected in the Leisure Centre, with all those taking part weighed in, referees, doctors, coaches and many spectators supporting the boxers.

The boxers came from not just Crediton but also from boxing clubs in Truro, Exmouth, Mayflower (Plymouth), St Pirans (Cornwall), Jurassic (Bridport), Taunton, Camborne and Redruth, Ocean City, Crewkerne, Kings Boxing Academy and St Austell.
There were tables available for the dinner show or general seating, and food was available plus drinks from the bar run by The Shop Hotel.

A raffle took place for some good prizes, the top prize being an authentic boxing glove signed by former World Champion Daniel Dubious, complete with certificate of authenticity.
Of their first boxing show, Bang Bang Boxing said: “A massive well done to all of our boxers who stepped into the ring and gave it their best the courage, dedication, and hard work made us proud.

“We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Crediton Town Council for supporting the event, and to The Ship Hotel for their support and hospitality.
“Thank you to everyone who came along, bought tickets, and cheered the boxers on.

“We look forward to our next show.”
