HOUSEHOLDS in Mid Devon can apply for an energy rebate to help towards increasing energy bill costs.

The scheme is part of a package launched by the Government but two schemes are being administered by MDDC.

Applications for the scheme open on Saturday, March 18 although many direct debit customers will have their rebate automatically applied.

Letters advising on what you should do are being posted over the next few days.

All occupied Mid Devon households, in council tax band A-D, are eligible for the £150 rebate, which does not need to be repaid.

This means four out of five households in England will benefit, including around 95per cent of rented properties.

Second homes or empty properties will not qualify.

For those whose property falls in bands E to H there is a discretionary scheme which bill payers can apply to.

MDDC is  making arrangements to get this paid to all who are eligible, as soon as it can after April,1.

Please do not contact MDDC to chase this payment.

Dean Emery, Corporate Manager for Revenues and Benefits, said: “With the prospect of significantly higher bills on the horizon for many of us we want to get this rebate out to our communities as quickly as we can.

“You can really help us by following the advice on the letters being sent, please make sure you supply the supporting documents when applying and use the account number from your 2022/23 Council Tax Bill.”

MDDC also offers a range of support to people in financial difficulties. For more information visit: www.middevon.gov.uk/residents/residents-financial-support/ .
