A LARGE hole was left in a house built of cob after an outside wall collapsed at Bow.

The side of the cottage, built from a combination of mud and straw crumbled away and was reported to Mid Devon District Council on Tuesday, February 13.

It is not yet known what caused the collapse but heavy rain has been blamed for similar incidents in the past.

A roadway to the rear of the property and neighbouring properties has been closed by a gate placed across the entrance.

Cracks have appeared along the side of the property and there is a fear that the wall and a significant part of the property could collapse completely.

It is believed that no-one is currently living at the address of the cottage, which fronts the A3072 road along Bow High Street.
