Meditation for your health, wellbeing and relaxation
CHRISTINE Thomas is a qualified meditation teacher with the British School of Meditation (accredited) and a qualified spiritual healer with the Devon and Cornwall Healers Association.
Christine teaches meditation in small personal groups, one-to-one and mini workshops.
Many of her clients come from Crediton and the surrounding area as well as from further away including Torquay, Paignton and Tiverton - one lady even came from Sweden.
Christine says: “Meditation has been a part of my life for a number of years and often helped me relax when working with grieving families, but my meditation practice really came into its own when it helped me through a serious illness that saw me succeed through surgery and intense follow-up treatment”.
Meditation and mindfulness courses are being practised far and wide, in many situations, the NHS, schools and by some corporate companies especially where call centres are involved. Many companies now use meditation before board meetings etc.
Christine stresses that contrary to popular belief, meditation is not all about “Om” and sitting in the “lotus position.”
It is open to both gender, any age, can be practised in chairs, laying down or walking and is both secular and spiritual.
She says: “It does takes time and practice and some people feel guilty when they sit at home and take time for themselves to meditate so often people are more comfortable in small groups away from the home”.
The classes are held in private, comfortable and personal settings, in terms of five weeks, the first term for those who have not practised before includes gentle tuition on the history and benefits of meditation to enable an understanding to begin.
Classes are both daytime and evening and a free session is offered for anyone who may like to give meditation a try.
Christine is planning to set up monthly meetings for those who practice meditation and would also like to meet up with others.
