VOLUNTEERS are needed by Crediton and District Community Speedwatch for two sites on the A377 between Crediton and Exeter within the 40mph limit.

The Community Speed Watch volunteers operate under Devon and Cornwall Police and aim to make communities safer by reducing vehicle speeds.

Volunteers assist the police in achieving this aim by monitoring vehicle speeds in locations where speeding is known to be a problem, logging details of vehicles exceeding the speed limit.

Using the information collated, a staged warning system is employed issuing advisory letters to the registered keepers of speeding vehicles.

Volunteers are trained in health and safety and on how to use the speed monitoring equipment. They are registered and only operate at police approved sites.

If you are concerned about the danger posed by speeding vehicles visit: www.communityspeedwatch.org for more information.

Anyone wishing to volunteer should email: [email protected] .

Bow Community Speedwatch is also looking for volunteers with a site just to the west of Bow, opposite the Co-op shop now formally approved and risk-assessed by the Police.

Bow Parish Council is inviting volunteers who will receive training, both online and roadside, to form a small group to operate the equipment, which along with hi-vis garments, will be supplied by the Police.
