COLDRIDGE Parish Council has been trying hard, for very many years, to acquire some land for a children’s playground in the village.
The council says that it would like to persue this possibility and will debate the subject at its next meeting (7pm) in Coldridge Village Hall on Thursday, September 20.
Andrew Green, Chairman, Coldridge Parish Council said: "Currently, children have to play in the streets or on the Village Green which, although quite good fun, is not very safe or ideal."
Mr Green said that he hoped the proposed area would provide a children’s playground and other community uses including a "green gym" and a small playing field.
He added that it could possibly also provide, in the long-term, an extension to the Churchyard to allow for more burial space which would be accessed directly from the existing churchyard.
He continued: "Provision of this potential facility will obviously place a funding issue upon the Parish Council. Grants will, of course, be applied for to hopefully reduce the net cost to the Parish."
He asked that parishioners take part in the consultation about the proposal and contact the parish councillors with views if desired.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would still like to submit your comments, please email Coldridge Parish Council clerk at: [email protected] .
A footpath diversion proposal has been supported by the parish council in anticipation of the proposal going ahead.
