I FEEL I must write regarding the proposed closure of the Chambers Day Centre in Market Street, Crediton, which cares for adults with learning disabilities.

The people who use the centre are like a little family and the excellent staff care for them like they would members of their own family.

They keep them safe, warm and happy and take them out on trips to various places, including the leisure centre and skittles.

There is a weekly coffee morning at the Congregational Church, tenpin bowling, shopping, the pantomime at Christmas and much, much more.

At the centre they organise crafts, games, cooking and when they have a birthday, a cake is made for them all to share.

If the centre does close, it will be devastating for all who use it and their carers.

Thank you Pat and all your wonderful staff for looking after them so well, for so long.
