THE 19th Churches Together Holiday Club in Crediton was a great success with about 60 children attending throughout the week, beginning Monday, July 30.
The theme for the Holiday Club, which was held at Crediton Congregational Church, was Team Builders and focused on sports.
The children were placed in groups which were named; Swimming, Rowing, Basket Ball, Cricket, Hockey, Gymnastics, Volley Ball and Cycling.
Some children went every day and some just did a few days. One child from Uganda, who was on holiday, also attended.
Peter Bryan of Crediton & District Lions Club, presented the Holiday Club with a cheque for £100 which was put towards crafts for the children.
Peter said: "The Lions are happy to support the Holiday Club and have done so for many years.
"Long may it continue."
Throughout the week children listened to "Bible" stories with puppets, took part in drama, crafts, activity books and sang songs led by the Pastor, James Gregory.
Some of the helpers Francesca, Sarah and Jess became "sports coaches and a physio" and were trying to find a new sport "to go global."
Helpers at the Holiday Club came from all the churches in Crediton and Ann Varker, vicar of Crediton Methodist Church organised crafts for the children. Stephen Mitchell of Holy Cross organised games. Jess Lee of Crediton Congregational Church did the administration and Lauren Stacey organised the puppet story-telling.
The Holiday Club culminated on the Sunday when parents were invited to attend a Celebration Service where they enjoyed hot dogs and viewed the work their children had produced during the week.
