ON Friday, February 6, the Department for Education released the final dataset, which reveals how well secondary schools have performed in the 2025 GCSE Examination Series.
The Department for Education releases a service every year so pupils can compare the performance of local schools when making decisions for school places in Year 7.
The 2025 results have once again confirmed that Chulmleigh College is one of the highest performing schools in the South West – a position it has enjoyed for many years.
“We are delighted that this data from the Department for Education confirms that the standard of education and care at our school is amongst the best in the region.” Stated Mr Payne, Headteacher.
“The data confirms that Chulmleigh pupils not only sit more GCSEs than most pupils but also gain a better average point score across the very challenging English Baccalaureate. It is impossible to achieve this without great standards of teaching and great standards of care. I am very proud of what the pupils and staff have achieved in our school.” Mr Payne added.
Chulmleigh College once again topped the tables in Devon on the most challenging measures of English Baccalaureate entry and average point score.
• Chulmleigh College is a highly popular fully inclusive state secondary school for pupils age 11-16. Situated in a beautiful rural location, it prides itself on traditional values and high academic expectations for all pupils.
In recent years the school has grown by more than 40%, as its reputation across Devon is such that it is the chosen school for many families who live a great distance outside its designated school area.
It is part of the Chulmleigh Academy Trust, a group of three primary schools (East Worlington Primary School, Chulmleigh Primary School and St Thomas of Canterbury CE Primary School, Lapford) and Chulmleigh College.
