CHRIS Martin, the lead singer with pop group, “Coldplay”, is supporting an auction with the donation of items for charities in memory of Lily Partridge (22), who died after suffering a head injury after collapsing by the side of the pitch during a rugby training event held at North Tawton’s ground.

Chris, who originally came from Whitestone, near Exeter, has signed a guitar and donated drumsticks, albums and CDs for the auction, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, January 16 at Topsham RFC.

Lily, a young woman rugby player with a history of concussions, was a zookeeper and part-time teacher.

She was injured during the training event last month.

Lily donated her organs and four people have received them.

Judi Spiers will be the auctioneer at the event after a memorial game at the Exonian Ladies home base at Topsham RFC.

Lily was a founder member of the club and a front row player for the Exonians.

Kick off for the game between Topsham Ladies Fifteen and a Barbarians-style side from Newton Abbot will be at 12.30pm.

Lily’s partner Anne-Marie McIntyre will wear Lily’s No 2 shirt and there will be a minute’s applause before kick-off.

The social evening, which will include the auction and a raffle, will start at about 5pm.

Many local businesses have also donated prizes for the auction and raffle.
