AS part of the phased re-opening of library services, Crediton Library will be starting a “Choose and Collect” service for their books and audiobooks from Monday, July 6.

Customers will be able to select books in advance from those titles available at Crediton Library (books from other libraries will not be available at this stage).

The library staff will prepare the books and customers will be given a collection time when their books will be ready.

The books will then be collected from a table in the library foyer, using strict social distancing. The main library will not be open to members of the public.

Please note that except for the disabled space, which is for the use of blue badge holders, parking will not be permitted in the library car park. This is to allow the correct social distancing to be maintained if people need to queue.

You will also be able to return any books from this date at the same time. These books will be placed into quarantine for 72 hours before being removed from library tickets and put back into circulation.

The number of books able to be borrowed on your library card has been temporarily doubled so that new books can be issued to your account before the previous titles have been removed.

If you want to request books, from Monday, July 6 only, you will need to contact the library either by telephone on 01363 772578 or by email: [email protected] .

There are three options available for choosing books:

1. Log onto the Devon Libraries website and search the catalogue to see what books are available – making sure to choose to see only titles held in Crediton Library – and then contact the library with your choices.

2. Contact the library to request a particular title, and staff will look to see if it is available in the branch.

3. Contact the library and ask for staff to select any books for you based on your areas of interest. Tell the library staff how many books you would like and they will choose titles they think you would enjoy

Devon Libraries will be piloting four libraries with public access to choose books from the shelves and use the computer facilities. Crediton Library reopening for public access will be in the next stages of the phased return to libraries and the library will release news of this reopening date as soon as it is available.
