A TOTAL of 27 members and one guest attended the Tuesday, July 1 meeting of Tedburn St Mary WI at Tedburn St Mary Village Hall.
Following the business section of the meeting, members enjoyed an excellent presentation delivered by the speaker for the evening, Katie Cross, from the Exeter bakery business Cake or Death.
Katie gave a fascinating and informative talk about her career and business. Katie, founder of Cake or Death, is based in her bakery in Fore Street, Exeter, and employs a team of local staff.
E-commerce accounts for most sales, with cakes ordered online through the Cake or Death website and sent out in their hundreds each week via the mail, everyone also welcome to visit the bakery and buy in person.
Members were fortunate to sample chocolate brownies and declared them to be absolutely delicious.
They felt they would be the perfect postal letterbox gift to send to family and friends.
A huge thank you to Katie for her excellent presentation, the delicious brownies and her generous raffle prize donations.
WI members also took part in the monthly competitions, a raffle and enjoyed refreshments.
WI members continue to participate in a busy programme, recently sharing time together at a fantastic celebratory birthday tea at Fingle Bridge.
Future plans include a visit to Powderham Castle and lunch at a local farm shop. Branch meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. (Next meeting in September).
Prospective new members will be warmly welcomed.
