BOW Community Primary School recently welcomed Tesco Crediton’s community team to the school.
The team delivered a gingerbread workshop, telling everyone about the history of gingerbread and why gingerbread houses are often built at Christmas.
The team showed the children root ginger, let them smell some ground ginger and then they were able to taste some stem ginger.
Class teacher Anna Fay said: "Some of the children loved the stem ginger, others including the teachers, were not so keen."
They then gave the children some gingerbread Christmas shapes to decorate with icing.
Anna added: "The children had a great time."
