AT Cheriton Fitzpaine Welcome Club’s AGM, held in the Methodist Chapel, Chairman Ann Jackson said we had had a very successful year with more than 44 diners attending the last main meal cooked by Ray Sanders and Mary Burchmore.

We had lost two of our members, Janet Gladwell and Maria Knowlton, who would be sadly missed. Treasurer, Yvonne Clayton stated that we were in a healthy financial position and would not need to increase prices yet.

She and secretary Linda Tonkin are willing to continue in their roles, but Ann, who has served as Chairman for 12 years wished to resign.

Vice-Chairman Ray Sanders would take her place until a new person could be found. The rest of the Committee were re-elected en bloc.

Ann thanked all those members who had helped in any way and also Rob Jenner who helps us with setting up and clearing the hall.

The schoolchildren are still helping on a regular basis, and everyone enjoys their visits. Our annual outing will be to Minehead by coach on Wednesday, July 11.

We are always in need of volunteers for the many jobs associated with the Club, so if you feel you can help, please talk to one of the Committee.

At the end of the meeting, Yvonne presented Ann with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
