MEMBERS of Cheriton Fitzpaine Twinning Association had the most wonderful time when they visited their twinned village of Bonnebosq, in Normandy recently.

Some travelled via Plymouth to Roscoff, while four members went via Portsmouth to Oustreham, near Caen. Their host families gave each member a very warm welcome and on the first day took them to various places of interest, one party enjoying lunch at a top French restaurant.

In the evening it was party night in the village hall where everyone was entertained by the Normandy dancers, a group, and at the end everyone joined in to dance the night away.

Cheriton Fitzpaine’s Chairman, Geoff Yeandle, gave a short speech thanking their hosts and saying he hoped that their Twinning would continue for many years to come.

He then asked their secretary, Will Taylor, to present a basket of Devonshire goodies to the President of Bonnebosq. Then it was a buffet supper with, of course, bottles of French wine.

On the Sunday, a cabaret and lunch was organised, with dancers and singers, in between the course, which was greatly enjoyed by all.

Afterwards, the French hosts took their guests for more sightseeing including walks along the beautiful coast.

The next morning, some drove to Roscoff, for the return journey, while others who were travelling later, spent the morning in Ouistreham, for more sightseeing and shopping. A truly great weekend.
