THE play area at Glebelands, Cheriton Bishop will be closed from Monday, November 2, for three weeks to allow contractors to carry out a colourful new make-over.

Mid Devon District Council’s Property Services Team is supporting the Parish Council, investing £35,000 to deliver these exciting improvements.

New equipment, which is designed to support toddlers to teenagers with improved access to allow inclusive use, will be installed to include: Somersault bars, Spica 2, Two-tower Multi-unit, Spinner Bowl, Carousel with bars, Seesaw with springs, Flat and Cradle swing frame and a new bin and benches.

MDDC says that the existing Basket Swing will remain, as well as the Crazy Gander, which will be repositioned.

In addition, new impact-absorbing safety paths will link the items of equipment to ensure accessibility.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Property Services, Councillor Bob Evans, said: “The planning and design work undertaken by our Property Services team in conjunction with our contractor, will ensure the upgraded play area will continue to serve as an important focal point for meeting, development and playtime within the local community, for the next 10 years.

“We’re in the process of rolling-out several other upgrades to our play areas across Mid Devon to help promote healthier and happier communities.”
