A "GOOD" school that parents and pupils were unanimous in saying they would recommend to others is Cheriton Bishop Primary School.
The school had its Ofsted inspection in February with the report being issued this month, giving an overall "good" status.
It said that all groups of pupils made "good and sometimes outstanding progress", where good teaching contributed significantly to the good achievement.
Teachers give helpful feedback, mark pupils' books "very well and often outstandingly so".
The comments were helpful in telling pupils exactly what they had done well and what they could improve.
Teachers create a stimulating learning climate in the classroom, pupils want to learn and take pride in presenting their work well.
Older pupils like the buddying system and enjoy acting as play leaders. They like taking on responsibility and behaviour is good.
The Ofsted report added that for some time, attainment had been "above average in all subjects" and that the majority of pupils were on track to meet or exceed the school's ambitious targets.
The report goes on to say that the school checks its own performance rigourously and accurately. The leadership was not complacent and the executive head teacher had led and managed the school well since the previous Ofsted inspection in 2009.
It said that pupils did increasingly well in sports competitions and the school offered a "good range of opportunities for its small size". It has 55 pupils aged four to 11 years.
The report says: "Both pupils and parents express very positive views about the school and would unanimously recommend it to others."
Mrs Laura Berry, Head of the school, commented: "Mrs Sue Leyman, executive head for the Woodleigh Federation, and I are delighted that Cheriton Bishop Primary has been recognised as a good school.
"We would like to thank our wonderful team of staff who work so hard to provide a good education for the children in our school.
"We are very lucky to work in such a happy school with enthusiastic children and extremely supportive parents."
The Governors were also praised in the report which said that they carried out their main responsibilities "effectively."
