DEVON County Council have confirmed changes to Bus Service 377 Chulmleigh - Chawleigh - Lapford - Morchard Road - Copplestone - Crediton - Exeter
This follows notice from Turner's Tours, of cancellation of their commercially operated service and a County Council competitive tender for a cost-effective replacement.
A contract has now been awarded by Devon County Council to Beacon Bus, who will begin the service on Monday, October 29.
The level of service in terms of frequency is the same as now, but with some changes to times brought about by an efficient use of vehicles.
In particular the last two afternoon departures from Exeter Bus Station are now 1640 hours and 1740 hours instead of 1710 hours and 1740 hours.
The route extension beyond Exeter Bus Station to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital continues only at peak times.
At other times passengers may change in Exeter City Centre to Stagecoach Service H, which runs four times an hour to the RD and E.
Travel to Chulmleigh School continues for pupils entitled to free school transport as well as offering travel for those paying their own fares by reason of going to a school of choice.
In the mornings, fare-paying pupils from Exeter and Crediton will need to travel by Stagecoach to Copplestone and change onto the school bus, as there will no longer be a through bus from Exeter and Crediton to Chulmleigh at that time of day.
A revised timetable is being published.
A photocopy of the revised timetable is available from the offices of the Crediton Courier at 102 High Street, Crediton, during office hours.
