VILLAGERS and businesses in Chagford have been told the boil water notice has been lifted.

South West Water has confirmed the precautionary notice is being lifted following extensive water quality testing, with all the results coming back clear.

About 900 properties were warned on Monday morning to boil tap water after a water main burst over the weekend.

A spokesman for SWW said: ‘Customers can now use their tap water as normal and no longer need to boil it before drinking, preparing food or brushing their teeth.

‘Customers will continue to see us in the area while work continues to complete a permanent repair to the burst.

‘We’d like to thank customers for their patience and understanding over the last few days.’

The bottled water station at Chagford Primary School will remain open today as planned.
