A SPECIAL concert in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday will take place at Crediton Parish Church this coming Sunday, June 26, starting at 3pm.
The first half of the concert will feature the Junior Choristers who will sing the lively cantata Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo by Michael Flanders and Joseph Horovitz.
The second half will offer several of the major musical items at the Queen’s Coronation in 1953. This will feature a colourful and humorous re-enactment of key moments in the Coronation Service, held in Westminster Abbey.
These include Zadok the Priest by Handel, I Was Glad by Parry and many other exciting anthems.
The full Holy Cross Choir will be supported by a 10-piece brass ensemble and the organ to re-discover the splendour of that Royal occasion in the grand architecture of the Parish Church.
Tickets, which will be available at the door, are priced at £5 with under 16’s admitted free and there will be cream teas to follow the service.
