‘Carving Community’ thanked at Brampford Speke School

CHILDREN, staff and parents from Brampford Speke C of E Primary School helped organise a big thank you barbecue for members of the group “Carving Community” after school on a recent Friday afternoon.

Carving Community is a Community Interest Company that specialises in engaging with hard to reach young people.

Their work centres on the practical use of tools and they provide a safe environment in which their experienced team is able to work with young people to provide a worthwhile and rewarding experience plus provide fantastic community facilities.

At Brampford Speke School the group managed to source some fantastic green oak from “Chunky Monkey” reclamation and furniture company near Exwick to enable their project to begin.

Under the guidance of leader James Bond the group then spent about two hard but extremely rewarding days of work at the school to construct an inspiring Forest School site.

Headteacher, Nic George, was delighted with the finished area and pupils at the school were really enthusiastic to meet the young people who created such a wonderful resource for them.

Mr George said: “This has been such a positive experience for all the young people involved and they will remember this for the rest of their lives. The facilities are a true reminder of what great team work can achieve.
